The tourism minister is to represent the island at a networking event in Miami this weekend.

Owen Darrell will attend the Iconic Summit, where he will participate in a special meeting of the Council of Ministers and Commissioners of Tourism tomorrow.

The meeting will be led by Ian Gooding-Edghill, the Minister of Tourism and International Transport in Barbados and chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation.

It will be hosted by Michael Bayley, the president and chief executive of Royal Caribbean International.

Mr Darrell, who also participated in the CTO’s State of the Tourism Industry Conference in September, said: “The Iconic Summit provides an opportunity to establish firm connections with the Council of Ministers and Commissioners of Tourism.

“Through collaboration and innovation, we can position Bermuda as a leading destination for visitors seeking exceptional experiences.”
