Public notice reveals $3m in tourism contracts

The Bermuda Tourism Authority has disclosed details about $3 million of contracts issued over the past year, largely on marketing and event sponsorships.

A total of 23 contracts, all valued at more than $50,000, were included in a public notice released under the public access to information, published in the Official Gazette on Christmas Eve.

The notice listed two ongoing annual contracts with MMGY Global, a travel and tourism marketing agency, valued at $258,000 and dated June 25 last year.

The first contract was listed as being for British and European sales and business development, and the other for British and European marketing and communications services.

The BTA paid Boat International Media Ltd, a publisher focused on the yachting industry, $299,500 for event sponsorship and media partnership between February 2024 and the end of this month.

Future Partners, a tourism and hospitality strategy firm, received a $238,300 contract for “brand awareness and perception research” dated July 12, 2024.

Simpleview LLC, a tourism marketing firm, received a $144,900 contract for customer relations management and e-mail marketing services.

Other marketing-related contracts included a $90,500 advertising service agreement with Carvertise Inc and $54,050 to Travelsavers Inc for strategic marketing services.

Meanwhile, the BTA paid $60,325 to Virtuoso Ltd and $59,000 to the Signature Travel Network for “consortia marketing”, in which several organisation pool resources for marketing campaigns.

Rosewood Bermuda was paid $235,016 for accommodations for the second annual Bermuda Celebrity Golf Invitational, held in October, while the Grotto Bay Beach Resort received $68,400 for accommodations for the Bermuda Grand Prix held in April.

Creative Management Services LLC, a marketing design firm, received a $201,944 contract for exhibition booth design and construction work between August and November last year.

The notice also stated that IMEX America Inc, the host of a major trade show for global meetings, events and incentive travel, received $102,800 for the BTA’s participation in the group’s 2024 trade show held in Las Vegas in October.

The notice also highlighted sponsorship of several sporting events over the course of the year.

Bonnier Corporation, an American outdoor adventure company, received $100,000 for media placement and sponsorship for the Bermuda Triple Crown Billfishing Championship, while the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club received the same amount to support the Newport Bermuda Race.

The RBYC also received $60,000 in sponsorship for the Bermuda Gold Cup Regatta, while the American Junior Golf Association received $72,000 for the Butterfield Bermuda Junior Championship and $70,000 was given to Bermuda Triangle Challenge (North America) to support the upcoming race weekend.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Ltd received a $175,000 contract for consultancy services, while Narrative Research (Bermuda) Ltd received $121,300 to carry out its 2024 air and cruise exit survey.

The notice also listed $84,613 paid to Ace Up Inc for professional coaching; $72,000 to Digicel Bermuda for information and communications services; and $78,000 to Associated Luxury Hotels International for membership.
