Fiddick second in Toronto race
A number of Bermuda runners have been competing in overseas road races during the past few weeks, including Victoria Fiddick who took second place in her age category in the Toronto Half-Marathon.
The former May 24 champion went into the event having had her training interrupted during the summer with injury, not helped by a bout of flu in the final few weeks.
She was still out of sorts on race day, and at one point stopped with stomach problems before resuming the race. But she proved to have plenty of stamina and ran a time of one hour 28 minutes and 16 seconds to place second in her age category.
Showing even greater stamina and endurance was Vivienne Lochhead, who competed in the Berlin Marathon.
She ran a fine three hours, 14 minutes, 25 seconds to place 23rd in her age category in one of the biggest marathons in the world.
Southampton runner Otis Robinson, who is currently living in England, has taken part in a number of road races around the Birmingham region. In his latest appearance in a 5K race held weekly in Cannon Hill Park, Edgbaston, he finished fourth overall in 17.47, a five-second improvement on his performance a week before. In the Fireworks Five Mile race in the town of Telford, he was eighth in 29.04.
n The BTFA cross-country series resumes at the Botanical Gardens on Saturday. The first race will be at 8.30 (Under-10, 12 and 14) followed by the remaining age groups. The races are being hosted by Pacers Track Club.
n The BAC Kool Running 5K planned for this Sunday has been postponed until Sunday, December 19.
