Tokio Re race coming to Hamilton
Bermuda’s triathletes will –return to Hamilton this month for the Tokio Millennium Re Triathlon. The race, which has been held at Clearwater in the past, has been switched to Hamilton to take the place of the now defunct Bank of Bermuda Triathlon.Race director Jamie Pedro is hoping the change in location will have a big impact on the number of people who turn out to watch, and take part in the May 15 race.“People don’t have to go all the way out to Clearwater to compete so it makes the triathlon more spectator friendly,” said Pedro.“This gives us a different setting and flavour to your typical event.”Tokio are making some changes to their race this year, with the shorter event due to start in the waters off Tokio Millennium House. Swimmers will go out to White’s Island, before heading back to the transition area at Albouy’s Point. The senior individual, junior advanced and team races will start at 9.45am with a 750m swim, 20K bike and 5K run.Entry fees are $20 for juniors, $30 junior team, $20 Tri-a-Tri, $30 senior and $45 senior team, and the deadline for entries is 5pm on Wednesday, May 11.
