The Bermuda Track & Field Association is now the Bermuda National Athletics Association after members approved the name change last night.BNAA president Donna Watson said the name change came about because the association encompasses road running and race walking in addition to track and field events.The name change was also suggested at the last conference of the International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF), which is also encouraging national bodies to drop the word amateur from their names.“We discussed this at the Board level and decided it was time for us to be inclusive and do it before it was made mandatory(be pro-active instead of reactive),” Ms Watson said.“Of course we wanted to get through Carifta and the remainder of our season first.”
