TN Tatem dominates middle school championships
TN Tatem has continued its recent dominance in athletics by winning the Middle School Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
The school amassed an impressive 553 points while Whitney Institute finished a distant second with 448.5.
Dellwood Middle School finished third with 436.50. Tatem were the overall girls’ winners with 296 points.
Dellwood finished second with 198 while Bermuda High School finished third with 192.
Tatem also won the boys’ division with 284 points with Whitney finishing with 264.50, followed by Dellwood with 238.50
Lakray Degrilla from TN Tatem was named the girls’ champion in the under-12 division after winning the 100 metres and 400 while finishing second in the 200.
Jade Johnston from Saltus Grammar School won the 800 and the 1500 while finishing fourth in the 400.
TN Tatem’s Sancho Smith won the under-12 division after winning the 800, 1500 and the high jump. His school-mate Chayse Tanner also had a strong meet win the 100, 200 and finished fourth in the shot put.
Za’Kayza Parsons from TN Tatem and Selah Tuzo from Saltus shared the under-13 girls’ title after both won all three of their events.
Parsons won the 100, 200 and equalled the meet record by winning the long jump. Tuzo continued her dominance in the longer distances winning the 400, 800 and 1500.
Saltus’ Nirobi Smith-Mills equalled Tuzo’s feat in winning the same events to capture the under-13 boys title. Jahziah Steede from Dellwood won the high jump and long jump but finished second in the discus. Whitneys Ramon Swan won the 100 and 200.
Taylor Hines from Bermuda High School won the over-13 girls’ division after sweeping all three sprint races.
Jah’Qala Tucker from TN Tatem won the triple jump and shot put and finished second in the long jump.
Clevonte Lodge from Whitney also won all three sprinting events in the over-13 boys division. Ryan Outerbridge from Clearwater Middle School won the the 800 and 1500, while TN Tatem’s Samuel Darrell won the high jump and triple jump.
