Bermuda secured gold medal glory at the NACAC under-18 and under-23 Championships in Queretaro, Mexico, at the weekend.

Both medals came courtesy of running sensation Caitlyn Bobb who enjoyed a memorable meet to leave with one gold and one bronze on the track.

Her first success came in the under-18 female 400 metres category, where after winning her heat comfortably to reach the final, Bobb built on that momentum to prevail in a winning time of 53.92sec.

She followed that up with a bronze medal in the under-18 female 200 metres race. After winning her heat in 24 seconds flat, to reach the final, Bobb failed to improve on her time, settling for third-place ina tim eof 24.53 seconds.

Frustratingly for Bobb, the winner of race, of Trinidad and Tobago, crossed the line in 24 seconds, the same as her winning time in the heats.

Meanwhile, Nathan Armstrong fell agonisingly short of adding another medal to Bermuda’s tally, as he finished fourth in the 3,000 metres, clocking a time of 9:36.23. Armstrong also competed in the 1,500 metres and settled for a fifth-place finish in a time of 4:22.35.

Nirobi Mills-Smith competed in the 800 and placed eighth overall with a time of 1:59.56, while Stephan Dill competed in the under-23 100 but was unable to make it to the finals, clocking a time of 10.97 to finish fourth in his heat.

Along with the Caribbean countries competing there were also athletes from the United States, Canada, Mexico and the other South American nations. Bermudian athletes will also be competing in the University Games in Naples, Italy, taking place this week.
