The 16-strong team earned as many medals, including three gold, with long jumper Chayse Tanner qualifying for the Carifta Games en route to victory. Tanner secured gold in the boys’ under-17 long jump with a leap of 6.73 metres, with the Carifta standard being 6.60.

Meanwhile, elsewhere at the weekend Isabelle Dutranoit eclipsed her own national Bermuda record competing at the ACC Indoor Championships hosted by Notre Dame.
The Wake Forest University freshman shaved five seconds off of the previous record after placing tenth in the 3,000 with a time of 9:45.62.
Dutranoit initially broke Ashley Berry’s six-year-old national indoor record in the 3,000 of 9:52.94 competing at the Camel City Invitational in Winston Salem, North Carolina, last month, where she placed eleventh in a time of 9:50.80.
Dutranoit has made a flying start to the year, having also qualified for the Carifta Games in the 3,000 with plenty of time to spare competing at Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina in January. She placed eighth in a field 35 competitors with her time of 9:54.86 being well inside of the Carifta standard of 11:15.
Nathan Armstrong also enjoyed success as he earned bronze competing in 1,600 with a personal best time of 4:23.89 at the NJ State Group 1 Indoor Track Meet. Armstrong’s time of 4:05 at the 1,500 mark also qualified him for the Carifta Games with the standard being 4:12.
He also finished third competing in the 3,200 with another personal best time of 9:35.25 to advance to the championship event.
Nirobi Mills-Smith impressed representing Bath Athletic Club competing at an indoor meet in Sheffield, England, where he placed fourth in the 800 in a time of 1:57.83. His time was just shy of the Carifta qualifying standard of 1:55.50.
“We have had another fantastic weekend as our athletes prepare for the upcoming Carifta Games,” Donna Raynor, the BNAA president, said.
“This is all boding well for Bermuda as our athletes are getting the opportunity to compete overseas despite the track not being available and these athletes are performing well.”
Ten locals have reached the Carifta qualifying standard. The qualifying deadline is March 15.
Bermuda is hosting the Carifta Games from April 10 to 13.
