Jessica Lewis bows out of Paralympics with fifth place in 400m heat

Jessica Lewis bowed out of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics yesterday after finishing fifth in her T53 400 metres heat.

The 28-year-old completed the one-lap race in 1min 1.71sec to trail in some ways behind heat winner Catherine Debrunner, of Switzerland, who clocked 55.21.
The top three in each heat plus the two fastest losers qualified for the final, which was won by Debrunner in a slower 56.18.
The silver medal was won by Samantha Kinghorn, of Great Britain, in 57.25, while Zhou Hongzhuan, of China, took the bronze in 57.29.
