Caitlyn Bobb claims final berths at Championships in Boston
Caitlyn Bobb is on course for an impressive double after securing her spot in the women’s 200 and 400 metre finals at the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships at Boston University yesterday.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County freshman was the top qualifier in each of her preliminary heats having led the field across the line in the 200 in 24.29secs and the 400 in 55.03 to lay down an early marker.
“Caitlyn’s races today [Friday] were pretty good from an execution standpoint,” Bobb’s manager and mother, Dawnette, who represented Bermuda in the 100 metres at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, told The Royal Gazette. “She looked very smooth and I was pleased.
“Tactically, I think she ran her normal race. She came through the 200 metres at 25.42 and normally comes through at 24. Her second 200 she came through at 29.50 and her last meet she came through at 30, so tomorrow is going to be interesting.
“She has the fastest times going into the finals and my excitement is building because I want to see if she is able to run with the fastest qualifiers and still have that same control and be able to accelerate and respond.”
Her latest outing follows victories at the Navy Invitational, Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge and Penn State National Open, as well as qualifying for the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships.
