Top athletes to feature at National Championships
Most of the island’s top track and field athletes will see action tonight when the National Championships are held at the Flora Duffy Stadium.
The five athletes who recently competed in the Bahamas National Championships — Sakari Famous, Caitlyn Bobb, Jah-Nhai Perinchief, Tiara DeRosa and Stephan Dill — are all expected to compete.
Famous won the women’s open high jump event in the Bahamas with a leap of 1.80 metres, while Bobb was first in the under-20 100 metres and fifth in the 200 metres. DeRosa won the women’s discus event and Perinchief the men’s triple jump with a leap of 16.66 metres.
Others who are expected to compete include Dage Minors, who recently placed first in the 800 metres at the Battle Road Track Meet at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, and college students Ryan Outerbridge and Nirobi Smith-Mills.
Competition will start at 5.30pm.
