Bermuda have started their Special Olympics World Games campaign in Berlin in style with Laura Repose and Kris Trott claiming bronze medals.

Repose picked up the island’s first medal, finishing third in the women’s 800 metres, followed by Trott matching the achievement in the men’s 200-metre level B event.

Bermuda’s athletes are competing in athletics, bowling, equestrianism, swimming and tennis in the hope of improving on the eight medals the island won at the previous Games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in 2019.

It is the first time that Germany has hosted the Special Olympics, with this year’s event showcasing 7,000 athletes competing across 24 sports.
