Jah-Nhai Perinchief qualifies for Olympics
Bermuda will have eight competitors at the Olympic Games this month after triple jumper Jah-Nhai Perinchief qualified for the biggest sporting event in the world.
Perinchief, 26, qualified courtesy of his world ranking of 30, with the top 32 on the cut-off date of June 30 guaranteed a spot in Paris.
The Bermuda Olympic Association was first to provide confirmation that the triple jumper was headed to the Olympics.
“Congratulations to Jah-Nhai Perinchief, qualified for his first Olympics,’’ the BOA said on Facebook.
Perinchief joins triathletes Dame Flora Duffy, Tyler Smith and Erica Hawley, swimmers Emma and Jack Harvey, rower Dara Alizadeh and sailor Adriana Penruddocke as the island’s representatives in Paris, with the Games due to start in 24 days.
