Dage Minors sets national mile record in Scotland

Dage Minors all smiles on the podium after winning the Butterfield Mile

Dage Minors lowered his national outdoor mile record in the Monument Mile Classic at the University of Stirling, Scotland.

Competing in the Elite Men’s Mile last weekend, Minors knocked more than half a second off his previous best, stopping the clock in 4min 01.55sec to beat the old mark of 4:02.09.

Minors, the island’s premier middle-distance runner, became the first Bermudian to dip under four minutes for the mile in 2023 and also fought through injury to compete at the Pan American Games in Chile in October. The local hero also won the Butterfield Mile for the third time in January.

It’s just over a year ago that Minors, 28, switched coaches after joining James Thie, who is based at Cardiff University in Wales.
