Ryan Outerbridge wins 5,000m at NE10 Conference Championship
Ryan Outerbridge has picked up one of the biggest victories of his college career after winning the 5,000 metres at the Northeast-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Outerbridge, who will soon graduate from Franklin Pierce University, won the race in 15min 35.65sec, less than a second ahead of Mohammed Abunar, from the University of New Haven, with Southern Connecticut State’s John Glidden coming home in third place.
The win by Outerbridge was Franklin Pierce’s only gold medal on the first day of the championships and the Bermudian runner added to his medal haul by finishing third in the 800 metres on day two of the event at the track at New Balance Boston.
Outerbridge ran 1:58:40 on his way to the bronze medal in the four-lap race, finishing less than a second behind winner Ryan Orr, of Bentley University, who crossed the line in 1:57:98. Colby Medeiros, representing Assumption University, finished runner-up in 1:58:40.
