New look ferry docks in Hamilton and Dockyard are on the cards.

The Ministry of Public Works has submitted a request for proposal for the refurbishment for the floating docks at three locations.

The RFP, published in the Official Gazette on Monday, said the Ministry wanted “the removal, refurbishment and reinstatement of the floating ferry docks and associated platforms at Hamilton Ferry Terminal, Dockyard Ferry Terminal and Hamilton Marine and Ports Depot”.

The work would also include the refurbishment of spare floating dock components stored at the Government Quarry.

The RFP said: “Components need to be removed, refurbished and installed again in a controlled sequence to avoid suspension of the ferry service.

“The work is expected to be completed over a four-year period.”

The refurbishment work listed in the RFP ranged from repairing damaged parts, fixing holes and replacing missing or damaged pins.

The RFP said it is expected ferry service for the Pink Route would be moved from Hamilton rerry terminal to a nearby wharf while work on that section was carried out.

A pre-bid meeting and site visit is scheduled for June 23 and all submissions are expected to be in by July 15.
