The Bermuda Road Safety Council has called on event organisers have a plan to ensure guests can return safely as the summer season ramps up.

A spokesman for the body said transportation plans that include pre-arranged minibuses, taxis or ferried have proven to be successful

The spokesman said: “As we are now entering the summer months, there will be an increase of events and parties where alcohol will be consumed.

“As we are all aware, operating a motor vehicle whilst impaired is not only illegal and dangerous, it can also result in a collision.

“To these points, the council encourages all event planners, organisers and hosts of large events, to incorporate a transportation plan.”

The BRSC said that organisers can contact the council at bdarsc@gmail.com to help develop a transportation plan.

The spokesman also urged delivery riders on motorcycles to take care when travelling on Bermuda’s roads.

He said: “We also ask that you ride at a safe speed and refrain from using electronic devices while you are riding.

“We understand that food deliveries must be made in a timely manner, however your safety and the safety of others must always be a priority.”
