Stretch of Middle Road in Smith’s to be closed for two weeks
Trench and road work will close a section of a major road, the public works ministry said yesterday.
A ministry spokesman said that a trench work on Middle Road in Smith’s has moved close to the yellow centreline, which has caused a hazard for workers and motorists passing through.
He added that, because of this, a section of Middle Road between Verdmont Road and Store Hill Road will be closed until November 21 to everyone except for residents in the area.
Other motorists will be rerouted through Verdmont Road and Store Hill Road.
Any questions regarding the Belco trench works should be sent to Jonathan Pedro, the project manager for Belco, at 295-5111 ext. 1441.
Any questions about detour routes should be directed to Tina Beer-Searle, the acting principal highways engineer for the Ministry of Public Works, on 501-3044.
A section of South Road in Paget was reopened last week after it was reduced to a single lane.
The section of main road between the Camden property entrance and Tee Street was reduced around 9am to complete paving works near the Botanical Gardens entrance.
