Bermuda records two deaths after separate road crashes
Two people have died after separate road crashes, police.
A spokesman said that a 42-year-old woman involved in a single-vehicle car crash on Beacon Hill, in Sandys, at about 10.35pm on Friday had died.
He added that a 51-year-old man who was involved in what appeared to be a single-vehicle crash on South Road, near Church Bay, Southampton, at about 3.15am yesterday had also died.
Renée Ming, the Minister of National Security, said: “I want to express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the two persons who lost their lives on our roads this weekend.
“We will keep them in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days.”
Shadow transport minister Susan Jackson issued a statement which said: “I'm shocked and saddened to learn of two road fatalities.
“On behalf of The One Bermuda Alliance, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased during this difficult time.”
The deaths are the second and third road traffic fatalities this year.
The police spokesman added: “No further information will be released until the next of kin have been informed.”
She asked anyone who saw the accidents or who arrived at the scenes soon afterwards to call the police on 211 or 295-0011.
