Road paving to interrupt traffic in Hamilton Parish next month
Paving work is set to take place in Hamilton Parish between August and November, with traffic in the area to be affected.
The Ministry of Public Works said in a notice that paving work would take place on Fractious Street, Wilkinson Avenue and Harrington Sound Road in the wake of Belco trenching work in the area.
The notice said: “The permanent asphalt reinstatement shall commence at Fractious Street, continue to Wilkinson Avenue on the eastbound lane and head west down Harrington Sound Road's eastbound lane to the Government Quarry entrance.
“Thereafter, the paving works will switch to the westbound lane to head towards the Belco substation on Paynter's Road.”
The work is scheduled to begin on August 8 and continue until November 5, with workers on site from 7.30am to 3pm Monday through Friday.
“Motorists are asked to avoid this section on Harrington Sound Road and to use alternative routes via North Shore Road for the duration of this trench work,” the notice added.
“Motorists are advised to drive cautiously past the paving sites and avoid speeding to protect the construction workers on site.
“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full co-operation of the public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result.”
