Road reopened after taxi hits telephone pole

South Road has been reopened between the South Roundabout and Stowe Hill after a taxi hit a utility pole just west of the roundabout.

The male driver of the taxi was reported to be unhurt in the 5am crash, but the road was closed to enable Belco to effect repairs. However, it has now been reopened.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to call 211.
