Bus passengers will experience detours this weekend due to the World Triathlon Championship Series.

The detours will affect routes 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 and will begin tomorrow at 6am.

Buses leaving Hamilton will travel via Cedar Avenue and continue to the Barkers Hill roundabout.

Route 3 buses will travel via Barkers Hill and resume their normal route on Middle Road in Devonshire.

After Barkers Hill, routes 1, 2, 7 and 8 will continue on Middle Road in Devonshire, across Tee Street to South Road and will resume their normal routes at the Trimingham Hill roundabout.

Routes 1, 2, 7 and 8 going into the City of Hamilton at that time will enter the city via Trimingham Hill, across Tee Street and continue onto Palmetto Road and Cedar Avenue.

The detours will be in effect throughout the day, but the detour route will slightly change at 2pm.

At that time, all buses coming from the city will travel from Palmetto Road to Frog Lane and Montpelier Road. Route 3 will resume their normal route on Middle Road.

Routes 1, 2, 7 and 8 will also resume their normal route at the Trimingham Hill roundabout.

Buses travelling into the city will detour via Tee Street, down Montpelier Road and Frog Lane and onto Cedar Avenue.

The detours will remain in effect on Sunday until approximately 5pm.

Routes leaving the city will travel via Cedar Avenue, Frog Lane and onto Middle Road. Route 3 will resume their normal route at that point and the other routes will resume at the round-a-bout.

Routes 1, 2, 7 and 8 entering the city on Sunday will detour via the roundabout and continue onto South Road up to Tee Street and Montpelier Road and continue onto Palmetto Road and across Cedar Avenue.

Journey times on the buses will be affected by the upcoming detours.
