A section of Court Street will be temporarily reduced to a single lane next week for roadworks.

A spokeswoman for the City of Hamilton said that the southbound lane between Church Street and Reid Street would be closed to traffic between March 6 and March 10 so it can be repaved.

While the northbound lane will remain open, there will be no street parking on either side of the road while the work is carried out.

Fred Richardson, assistant superintendent of parking management for the City, said: “Ideally, the paving on the eastern end of Front Street will be completed by the end of day today.

“The road has to be left to cure for at least three days as long as the weather co-operates. The road will be reopened when it is safe to do so, estimated to be over the coming weekend with road marking scheduled for Sunday. The project will be completed well ahead of schedule.

“We’d like to assure the public that work on Court Street will not begin until Front Street is fully reopened. We thank the public for their patience while we continue this important work.”

The public are urged to use caution in the area and abide by signs and barriers that will be in place.
