Boats and moorings licensing period opens
Boat owners and mooring licence-holders have been reminded that the deadline for licensing renewals is the end of next month.
The registration period opened on April 1 and will run until midnight on May 31 or 4.30pm that day if payment is made in person.
A spokesman for the Boats and Moorings section of the Department of Marine and Ports said: “2024 decals must be in place by June 1 on all moorings and boats.
“Mooring licences that are not renewed as of May 31 will incur a late fee.
“Boat and mooring owners are further advised to make sure they have a correct address on file with the department.
“Transfers of boats or moorings must be done in person with photo ID at the department.”
According to the Department of Marine and Ports website, mooring fees set in 2022 for everywhere except Foot of the Lane are $190. The fee for motorboats of less than 13 feet in length is $56 and every additional foot is $6.86. Sailboats and rowing boats up to 16 feet in length cost $14.
He added that to update an address, people can call the department on 294-0419 or 294-0420 or e-mail boatsandmoorings@gov.bm.
The spokesman said: “Renewal notices are no longer being sent out.
“Once a customer has provided their updated information, a link will be sent to their e-mail.
“This will allow owners to access their information online in future.”
Licensing fee information is available at www.marineandports.bm.
Payment can be made in person by cash, cheque or card. Alternatively, it can be done online or by sending a cheque in the post.
The department is at the former Paget Post Office at 108 Middle Road, Paget. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.
