Widespread Bermuda Day road restrictions for Friday

Bermuda Day this Friday comes with the road race and parade which will affect roads from 8am to 8pm.

Traffic will be closed off for a string of events, with the Marathon Derby setting out at 8.30am and occupying Mullet Bay Road, Kindley Field Road, the Causeway, Blue Hole Hill, North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish, Middle Road in Smith’s and Devonshire, followed by Cavendish Road, Lane Hill and Crow Lane into Hamilton, then onto Cedar Avenue, Marsh Folly Road and Dutton Avenue to finish at Bernard Park.

The Junior Classic Run will affect Front Street, Queen Street, Church Street, King Street, Victoria Street, Cedar Avenue, Marsh Folly Road and Dutton Avenue to Bernard Park.

The Parade starts on Pitt's Bay Road, heading east on Front Street and following the agreed route through Hamilton, exiting on Cedar Avenue, north to Marsh Folly Road and then east to Dutton Avenue, south on Dutton Avenue to the Bernard Park field.

All traffic, including pedal cyclists, must keep off the route from 8am until given the all-clear by police.

Official vehicles preceding the Sinclair Packwood Memorial Cycle Race and the Marathon Derby Race will be permitted, along with buses and emergency vehicles following the runners.

Traffic flowing in the opposite direction to the runners will have free passage except on Mullet Bay, Kindley Field Road, Blue Hole Hill, North Shore Road, Middle Road, and Cavendish Road.

For those planning to enter Hamilton, motorised traffic will be allowed to cross over and enter through the half Marathon route at only the following junctions:

• Middle Road and Harrington Sound Road to North Shore Road, Flatts;

• Tee Street and Middle Road to Orange Valley Road and Middle Road;

• Hermitage Road to Vesey Street;

• Brighton Hill to Barkers Hill.

Mullet Bay Road will be closed between Kindley Field Road and York Street in St George's from 8.45am until reopened by police.

Kindley Field Road will be closed from St David’s Road to the Causeway from 9am until reopened by police.

Blue Hole Hill will be closed from the Causeway to North Shore Road from 9am until reopened by police.

North Shore Road is shut from Blue Hole Hill and Middle Road near Flatts from 9am until reopened by police.

Middle Road is shut from North Shore Road, Flatts to Cavendish Road from 9am until reopened by police.

Canal Road is shut from Marsh Follow Road and Laffan Street from 9am to 11.30am, except for residents’ access.

Cedar Avenue is shut from the city boundary to St John’s Road junction from 1.30pm until the parade passes.

Marsh Folly Road is shut from St John’s Road to Dutton Avenue from 1.30pm until the parade passes.

Dutton Avenue is shut from North Street to Marsh Folly Road from 6am to 8pm.

Palmetto Road and Marsh Folly Road are shut from Bishop Spencer Road to Dutton Avenue from 10.30am to 6.30pm to westbound traffic only, or until reopened by police.

Black Watch Pass is shut from 10.30am to 6.30pm from Marsh Folly Road to the junction at North Shore Road.

Crow Lane is shut to westbound traffic from the North Roundabout to the city boundary from 1.45pm until reopened by police.

Pitt's Bay Road is shut from Woodbourne Avenue to Bermudiana Road until reopened by police.

Gorham Road is shut from Woodbourne Avenue to Bermudiana Road until reopened by police.

No parking is in effect on North Shore Road between Blue Hole Hill and Middle Road, Flatts from 9am until opened by police.

Middle Road has no parking from North Shore Road in Flatts to Cavendish Road from 9am until opened by police.

Cavendish Road has no parking from Middle Road to Lane Hill from 8am until opened by police.

Marsh Folly Road has no parking between St John’s Road and Dutton Avenue from 8am until opened by police.

Dutton Avenue has no parking from Marsh Folly Road to North Street from 8am until opened by police.

Black Watch Pass has no parking from Marsh Folly Road to North Shore Road from 8am until opened by police.

Police along with the Corporation of Hamilton are also authorised to close streets or portions of streets, and restrict and authorise parking, as the decided by the Commissioner of Police and the City of Hamilton Manager.
