A flight from Puerto Rico to Boston made an unscheduled detour to Bermuda after a passenger fell ill.

According to an incident report from the Department of Marine and Ports Services, RCC Bermuda received a call from new York Air Traffic Control about the JetBlue flight shortly after 1am yesterday.

The aircraft, which had 194 people on board, had diverted towards the island because of an emergency medical situation involving a passenger.

“The duty officer at RCC Bermuda alerts the necessary personnel, including the airport duty officer, COMOPS and Bermuda Fire and Dispatch,” the report said.

“The aircraft lands at Bermuda International Airport at 1.35am, where an awaiting ambulance took the sick 61-year-old female to the hospital.”
