Female bike passenger suffers life-threatening injuries in crash

The island has seen two serious crashes in one day, after a female passenger on a livery bike suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash yesterday.

The male rider of the bike suffered a leg injury in the collision which happened just after 5pm.

It appears their vehicle collided with a car on Middle Road just west of Evans Bay, Southampton.

Police said that early information suggested the rider of the westbound cycle lost control and crossed into the path of an eastbound car.

Both riders were taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The driver of the car was not reported to be injured.

Police reported another serious crash near on Harrington Sound Road near Broken Hill Road in Hamilton Parish, at 7.25pm.

The male rider of a motorcycle struck a concrete wall, sustaining serious facial injuries, while the female pillion passenger was left with minor injuries.

Both were treated at the scene by EMTs, then taken to hospital.

Any witnesses or people with information on the circumstances of the crash should call the main police number, 295-0011, or use the online community reporting site.

Police urged anyone who received video or pictures take after the accident to use compassion and delete them from their devices.
