Island’s roads busy over long Heroes Weekend
Road traffic notices have been issued by the Ministry of Public Works for the array of outdoor events set for the National Heroes holiday weekend.
Three races for the Iron Kids Triathlon will affect East End roads on Saturday from 10.30am to 1pm, from Clearwater on to Cooper's Island Road, west on Southside Road to Lower Gates Road.
Racers will circle the roundabout and follow Southside Road east back to the parking lot at Clearwater Beach.
The first race runs from 10.30am to 11am, the second from 11.45am to noon and the third from 12.45pm to 1pm.
Police and race officials will direct traffic — with closures affecting Cooper’s Island Road and Southside Road.
National Heroes Day on Monday will bring crowds out in force, starting with the J’Ouvert in City Hall car park from 3am to 8am, when the procession heads from Wesley Street on to Church Street.
Parking will be restricted with a series of road closures.
The route will turn right to Par-la-Ville Road, then north to Canal Street, where it ends at the Bull’s Head car park.
