The Ministry of Public Works has announced two emergency lane closures for water-break repairs, and the work is expected to be completed before Cup Match.

According to recent government notices, a section of North Shore Road near Shelly Bay will be reduced to a single lane from today until Wednesday for repairs.

“The westbound lane only on North Shore Road near the bus lay-by across from Shelly Bay playground will be closed to traffic flow,” the notice said.

“To avoid stopping traffic flow, the westbound traffic must detour through the bus lay-by. The bus lay-by will still be used for the buses and when this occurs then traffic must stop.”

The notice urged motorists to use caution when driving through the area.

The ministry also announced that a section of road near the junction of Middle Road and North Shore Road in Flatts will be closed temporarily next week from Monday to Wednesday for repairs.

“The east and westbound lanes on Middle Road from North Shore Road to the connection road around the island median will be closed,” the notice stated.

“Traffic wanting to enter Middle Road from North Shore Road or vice versa will have to use the connection road to gain access to each road or travel via Harrington Sound Road to avoid the road closure.

“Working hours will be from 7.30am until 6.30pm or later to expedite the works.”
