Air Canada goes to twice-a-week schedule for the winter
Skyport has announced a reduction in flights scheduled for December with a drop in service to Canada.
According to a press statement, Air Canada is set to cut service between the island and Toronto.
“Flights will now operate two days a week as opposed to the three-day-a-week service in the fall before an expected ramp-up again next spring,” the statement said.
“Air Canada will operate its Toronto service two days per week in December, on Thursdays, and Saturdays. The airline will operate an extra flight on Monday, December 18.”
Air Canada is the only airline offering direct flights between Bermuda and Canada since WestJet halted its service in September.
Wayne Furbert, the Minister of Transport, had announced this month that WestJet “will not be flying to Bermuda” as it had decided to focus on the west coast. He said the ministry had asked Air Canada to consider increasing service.
He added: “Following our meeting with Air Canada, we discussed converting back to their traditional aircraft, which they will do in the near future, which would mean additional business class seats.”
Sata is scheduled to resume its service to the Azores in December, with three flights between Bermuda and Ponta Delgada on the calendar starting December 7.
