A man trapped in an overturned truck in Southampton yesterday was extricated safely from the vehicle, according to the police.

The Bermuda Police Service said in a social media post that at about 10.20am officers received reports that a truck had overturned near the junction of Middle Road and Lighthouse Road.

“Initial information suggested the male driver was trapped inside the vehicle,” the post said.

“He was extracted and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which are not believed life-threatening.

“Traffic was restricted to one lane for approximately two hours while efforts were made to have the vehicle removed. The roadway is now once again open to regular traffic flow.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police on 295-0011 or e-mail Pc Edwin Dill at edill@bps.bm.
