Trenching and paving will result in some road and lane closures in Hamilton and Smith’s parishes in December.

There will also be a road closure along Curving Avenue, Pembroke, on December 10 for for a Christmas block party.

The Ministry of Public Works advised that there will be multiple lane closures along Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton and Smith’s parishes until December 15.

They will allow the road-crossing trench work near Whitecrest Hill in Hamilton Parish to be completed and for the road section near Harrington Sound Primary School to be milled and paved.

Working hours will be from 9am to 5pm.

A ministry spokesman said: “Traffic control will be under the direction of Invisible Trenching and Ministry of Public Works representatives with traffic lights and stop-and-go signs.

“The public is advised to travel cautiously through these areas and follow representatives' instructions.

“The police have been encouraged to ticket motorists speeding past the construction sites and putting construction workers in danger.”

Meanwhile, the ministry said the closure for the block party, which will extend from 2 to 10 Curving Avenue, will take place from noon until 7pm on December 10.

The spokesman added: “Motorists who wish to reach Parson Road are advised to detour along King Street or Happy Valley Road.

“Traffic controls will be directed by Made in Bermuda Nights group representatives.

“Motorists are encouraged to avoid this road closure on Curving Avenue and use alternative routes.”
