Installation of utility poles to affect traffic on Crow Lane

Work to install utility poles and repair a cliff face will affect traffic on Crow Lane next week.

A notice from the Ministry of Public Works said that a temporary lane restriction would be in place on Crow Lane and Lane Hill in Paget between February 5 and 7.

“The works shall occur between 9am and 4pm on those specified days,” the notice said. “Belco representatives will manage traffic control with cones and signs.

“Motorists are advised to use caution when passing on Crow Lane and Lane Hill. The Ministry of Public Works encourages the full co-operation of the public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result.”

The traffic notice was one of three released by the ministry.

In another notice, the ministry warned that Tribe Road No 3 will be closed at its junction with South Road in Southampton from February 5 to 12.

The closure is needed to accommodate a crane, which will be used to remove the roof of a water tank.

Work at the site will take place between 7.30am and 6pm, with Island Construction representatives blocking the road with barricades and signs.

“For safety purposes, no vehicular access will be granted through this section,” the notice said.

“Motorists are advised to use an alternative route via St Anne's Road to access Tribe Road No 3.”

The ministry also warned that traffic in Pembroke on Sunday morning would be affected by the Bermuda Union of Teachers 5K Run and Walk between 8.30am and 11am.

“The 0.5K race commences at the BGA parking lot on Mill Reach Road,” the notice said. “The participants must turn left on to Pitts Bay Road and then make another left to the finish line at Mill Creek Road.

“The 2.6K race commences at the BGA parking lot on Mill Reach Road. The racers then make a right on to Pitts Bay Road.

“They continue on the course with left turns at Serpentine Road, Woodlands Road and St John’s Road. They return to Pitts Bay Road to the finish line.”

“The 5K route commences at the BGA parking lot on Mill Reach Road. The participants then make a right on to Pitts Bay Road. They continue on the course with left turns at Serpentine Road and Woodlands Road.

“They turn right on to Euclid Avenue, then left on to St John’s Road, with a right turn at Berkeley Road. Participants continue with left turns on to North Shore Road and St John’s Road. They then turn right on to Pitts Bay Road to the finish line.”

While no roads will be closed for the event, motorists are urged to use caution and follow the directions of race officials.
