Two events will affect traffic throughout the island on March 24, the Ministry of Public Works announced.

A ministry statement said the Ray Swan 8K Race will commence at West Pembroke School at 8am. Competitors will continue on North Shore Road and finish at Shelly Bay Park.

Road marshals and signage will direct traffic during the race, which is expected to finish at about 9.30am, but the road will remain open.

The second event, the Bermuda National Trust’s Palm Sunday Walk, will start at Lindo’s Family Foods in Warwick at 1pm.

Walkers will go to the Railway Trail via Spring Hill Road, head to Glenwood Park Crescent, Southlands Park and onto South Road.

They will then walk to Spice Hill Road, Khyber Pass, Middle Road, Olive Bank Road and Sherwin Nature Reserve.

Participants will then head along the Railway Trail and Tribe Road No 2, and finish at Lindo’s Family Foods.

Police and race wardens will direct traffic in the area during the walk, which is scheduled to finish by 5pm, but all roads will be open.

“In addition, police are hereby authorised to ‘close-off’ streets or parts of streets and authorise parking as the Commissioner of Police decides,” the ministry added.

The ministry encouraged the public’s co-operation during these events and apologised for any inconvenience that may result.

Questions about the 8K race can be directed to Donna Mae Arorash at 504-2111. Myles Darrell at 705-9876 may be contacted about the walk.
