Man in hospital after Hamilton Parish collision
A man suffered a serious head injury after a collision in Hamilton Parish this afternoon.
A statement from the Bermuda Police Service said that shortly before 1.15pm, the 19-year-old motorcyclist was travelling south on Wilkinson Avenue when he tried to overtake a public bus near the entrance to Crystal Caves and came into contact with an airport taxi heading in the opposite direction.
The biker was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the roadway. He was in and out of consciousness when EMTs arrived at the scene.
The man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he is being treated for a serious head injury, a broken leg and facial injuries. The taxi driver, a 33-year-old man, was not reported to be injured in the collision.
The taxi sustained moderate damage.
The roadway was closed for about 3½ hours while police investigated the scene, and officers thanked the public for their patience.
