Motorcyclist injured in fiery collision with truck

A motorcyclist underwent surgery after he was involved in a traffic crash with a truck in Smith’s yesterday, police have said.
Details are limited at this time, but a police spokesman confirmed that the collision happened at about 2.10pm near the intersection of North Shore Road with Jennings Street.
The motorcyclist received injuries to his legs that were not expected to be life-threatening. He was transported to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The rider’s motorcycle was seen bursting into flames shortly after the incident.
The area of North Shore Road was closed to the public for about an hour, with traffic being diverted to Middle Road.
