Multiple vehicles hit after car veers out of control
A driver crashed into several parked motorcycles, a car and a truck after losing control of her vehicle on Front Street on Friday afternoon.
Video footage of the incident seen by The Royal Gazette shows that one pedestrian had a narrow escape after the car ploughed through a car park hedge, narrowly missing them.
The incident took place at about 1.30pm in the area of the No 5 car park opposite Flanagan’s bar and restaurant.
A police spokesman said: “Reports indicate the 35-year-old female driver of a motor car entered the No 5 car park and drove into one of the bays as she attempted to park the vehicle.
“She reportedly lost control of the car and struck a number of motorcycles parked in the cycle bay within the car park.
“Her vehicle went through a hedge bordering the car park and out on to Front Street.
“She struck a number of other bikes parked in the cycle-parking bays on the southern side of Front Street, before also striking a truck, which was travelling west along Front Street as well as a motor car which was parked in a parking bay on the northern side of Front Street.”
The spokesman said there were no reported injuries but several of the motorcycles struck suffered extensive damage.
