Rider seriously injured in Southampton collision

There was a two-vehicle collision in Southampton yesterday

A motorcyclist was treated for serious facial and leg injuries after a two-vehicle collision yesterday morning in Southampton.

Police and other emergency responders were sent to the incident at the junction of George’s Bay Road and the Railway Trail at about 9.50am.

A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Police Service said: “Early information suggests that a motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed in an easterly direction on the Railway Trail failed to stop at the junction and collided with a heavy truck, travelling along George’s Bay Road, headed towards Caroline Bay.

“The rider of the motorcycle has been conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of what were described serious facial and leg injuries.

“The driver of the truck was not reported to be injured.”

She added that owing to the location of the collision, traffic was not affected while police worked at the scene.

Anyone with information was asked to call Police Constable Daischon Chin on 211 or e-mail dchin@bps.bm.
