A 64-year-old man struck by a car in a collision in April has died, police said yesterday.

A police spokesman said Marvin Johnson, who was seriously injured in the accident on April 12, died on Monday, June 3.

He was the third person to die on the island’s roads this year.

A police spokesman said that Mr Johnson was understood to have been walking in Sandys sometime between 9.45pm and 10pm when he was struck by a car turning from Long Bay Lane on to Nursery Lane.

“The Sandys resident was admitted to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit, where he was later pronounced dead on Monday, June 3,” the spokesman said.

“A BPS family liaison officer was then assigned to provide relevant support to Mr Johnson’s family, which is ongoing. This road fatality is currently being investigated by the roads policing unit.

“The BPS thanks those persons who have already assisted with inquiries and renews the appeal for any witnesses that have not already come forward, or anyone with relevant information, to contact RPU Constable Kevin Medeiros by calling 717-2402 or e-mailing kmedeiros@bps.bm.”

Anyone with information about the fatal collision can also speak with a police officer they are familiar with or provide information through the BPS online community reporting portal, https://portal.police.bm/.
