Series of road closures for events and construction works
Several traffic notices have been issued including upcoming road closures for events and roadworks.
The notices refer to the Made in Bermuda Nights in Pembroke on Saturday; Bermuda Bicycle Association Criterium Road Race on Sunday; and wall reconstruction and road Improvements on St David's Road, St George's from Monday to August 30.
The Made in Bermuda Nights event at Barr’s Bay Park on Saturday will see Pitts Bay Road between Bermudiana Road and Woodbourne Avenue in Pembroke closed from 7.30pm until midnight.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works said: “Motorists using Front Street will be detoured via Bermudiana Road.
“Motorists using Pitt's Bay Road will be detoured via Woodbourne Avenue.
“Traffic controls will be managed by Made in Bermuda Nights' group representatives.”
The bicycle race will take place on Sunday between 8am and 10.30am.
It begins and ends on Stocks Road near the Southside Police Station. The participants proceed North on Stocks Road and turn left on to Southside Road. They continue on Southside Road, turn left on to Waller’s Point Road, and make another left on to Stocks Road where they head for the finish line.
The spokesman said: “All motorists are expected to use caution and to avoid collisions with race participants. The race route will be under the control of police officers and race marshals.”
There will be no road closures while the race takes place.
The spokesman said: “The Bermuda police are authorised to close off streets or portions of streets, and authorise parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.”
St David's Road in St George's will be closed from July 15 to August 30 to facilitate the reconstruction of a wall and road improvements at Stokes Point bridge bend.
St David's Road will be closed from Stock's Road through to the roundabout at Kindley Field. No traffic will be permitted through this stretch.
Traffic will be detoured through Kindley Field Park to Ballast Point Road and Southside Road.
The spokesman said: “The ministry apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public's cooperation.”
