Traffic to be affected in Pembroke today

The transport of equipment by Belco will affect traffic in Pembroke today.

The Ministry of Public Works announced that parts of Par-la-Ville Road, Serpentine Road and Cemetery Road would be closed from 7am to facilitate the transport of large equipment by Belco out of Hamilton.

The closure will start from Par-la-Ville Road at the roundabout, head west on Serpentine Road, down Cemetery Road and east at the roundabout to enter Belco’s north power station site.

The ministry said the closure was expected to last for about 1½ hours.

It added: “Traffic control will be under the direction of Best Shipping, TD&R Field Ops & BG Engineering representatives.”

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes such as Woodlands Road to St John's Road or Pitts Bay Road, to avoid the closure on Serpentine Road.

The public works ministry encouraged co-operation from motorists and apologised for any inconvenience.

Queries can be directed to Belco’s representative, Basil Carey, at 295-5111.
