Wall collapse forces lane closure in Sandys

A portion of Somerset Road has been reduced to a single lane of traffic after the collapse of a retaining wall.

The Ministry of Public Works announced this afternoon that there had been an emergency closure of the westbound lane of the road near Scaur Hill in Sandys.

A spokesman said it would remain in place until further notice for safety reasons, with drivers asked to use caution.

Temporary traffic lights and other signals will manage traffic.

The ministry thanked the public and said updates would come “as the situation progresses”.
