Traffic light repairs further delayed

The Ministry of Public Works said yesterday that it continued to await a shipment of crucial system components for damaged traffic lights on St John’s Road in Pembroke.

The lights opposite WER Joell Stadium went out after a vehicle hit the system’s control box in July.

A ministry spokesman said: “Unfortunately, the temporary traffic lights positioned instead were also deemed unreliable to interact with each other continuously.

“Therefore, the three-way stop signs had to be reinstated until the crucial traffic components arrived on the island.

"The public's continued patience and co-operation is appreciated during this time.”
