Police seek witnesses to crash and unrelated car fire

Two separate incidents on Sunday have prompted an appeal from police for witnesses, starting with the collision of two motorcycles in Pembroke.

The crash, just after 5.15pm near the junction of Parson’s Road and Crossland Lane, left a 57-year-old male with head and facial injuries.

Officers, who were told that the other rider had left the scene, gave first aid to the victim, who was initially unresponsive.

The man was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was said to have left after checking himself out.

Anyone with information is asked to call the main police number, 295-0011, or 211.

Details can be given through the police community reporting portal.

Police also suspected that a blaze had been maliciously set after they arrived with firefighters at about 9.40am, following reports of a car on fire at the parking lot on the junction of Elliott Street and Union Street, Pembroke.

Officers were told that a male wearing a black face mask was seen running away from the scene.

The fire did not spread significantly, leaving the car with minor damage — but a police spokesman said items found at the scene suggest it had been set deliberately.

The matter is under investigation, and anyone with information should contact Pc Quincy Fevriere by calling the main police number, 295-0011, or by e-mail at qfevriere@bps.bm.
