BRSC highlights toll inflicted by speeding
The Bermuda Road Safety Council has urged motorists to slow down.
A BRSC statement explained: “In a small community like ours, the consequences of speeding are not just statistics; they are the devastating loss of loved ones, the pain of life-altering injuries and the emotional and financial burdens that families and communities must bear.”
The council highlighted how speeding increased the likelihood of crashes and put pedestrians, cyclists and other road users in danger.
The statement added: “In Bermuda, where roads are narrow, winding and often shared by multiple types of users, the margin for error is small.
“A moment of recklessness can result in lifelong consequences; innocent lives lost, families shattered and a community left grieving.”
The council called on drivers to protect themselves and others by slowing down, adding that obeying speed limits “is a simple but powerful way to prevent tragedy and keep our island safe”.
