The return of the Christmas Boat Parade to Hamilton Harbour will come with an impact on traffic and parking, according to the Ministry of Public Works.

A government spokesman said that some roads will be reduced to one-way traffic during the festive event on December 7, while parking will be prohibited in some areas.

“Several roads will be affected, and traffic control measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of parade participants and spectators,” the spokesman said.

“Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and consider alternative routes during this time.

“The ministry appreciates the public's co-operation and understanding during this festive event and encourages everyone to enjoy the parade safely.”

A traffic notice stated that only eastbound traffic will be allowed on Harbour Road between Manse Road and Stowe Hill, along with The Lane between Stowe Hill and the North Roundabout.

Parking will be allowed on the northern lane of Harbour Road between Manse Road and Lovers Lane.

However, there will be no parking allowed on either side of Manse Road, Chapel Road or Cavendish Road.

The traffic and parking restrictions are scheduled to be in effect from 6pm until 9pm.
