Rolling lane closures in Southampton from Monday

Emergency repairs to underground cables will cause “rolling” lane closures on Middle Road from next week.

The Ministry of Public Works said that the work will be carried out between Camp Hill and Heron’s Nest Drive in Southampton starting on Monday, with workers on site between 8am and 5pm daily.

A government spokesman said: “These closures are necessary to facilitate emergency underground cable repairs by Belco.

“Traffic management will be overseen by Belco representatives, employing barricades, stop-and-go signs and cones. Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the area where possible and utilise alternative routes via South Road to minimise delays.

“The ministry thanks the public for their co-operation and understanding as these critical repairs are completed.”
