Traffic restrictions on for Christmas Boat Parade
Part of Front Street will close for the Christmas Boat Parade on Saturday, with one-way traffic on parts of Harbour Road and The Lane during the event from 6.30pm to 9pm.
Front Street, between Queen Street and Parliament Street, including the No 1 and No 5 car parks, will be closed from 5pm to 10pm.
Easterly traffic will run on Harbour Road, between Manse Road and Stowe Hill and on The Lane between Stowe Hill and North Roundabout.
There will be no parking on Manse Road, Chapel Road and Cavendish Road, and the City reminded drivers parking was prohibited on sidewalks.
Parking is permitted on the north side of Harbour Road between Manse Road and Lovers Lane.
• No-fly zone: public drones are strictly prohibited within a 0.25 nautical mile radius of White’s Island
• Drone show operational zone: a 150-foot perimeter around White’s Island is designated for drone show operations. Boats are not allowed in
• Garbage collection: businesses in the parade area must place garbage out for collection by 4.30pm on Saturday, as there will be no pick-up after 5pm
•Boat owners: only parade participants will be able to anchor in the parade route area to watch the drone show. Spectator boats will not be allowed
• Parade: the route has been slightly truncated this year
The parade will culminate with a drone show above Hamilton Harbour at 8.30pm.
The City will provide a free viewing village at the No 1 Car Park.
The sights will also be live streamed via YouTube, Facebook and Bernews.
