A motocross competition will affect traffic in the east end on Sunday, the Ministry of Public Works said.

A spokesman said the Pink Sands scrambling event will take place from 7am until 5pm in Coney Island Park.

More than 80 riders from Bermuda and overseas will compete in the tournament.

The ministry spokesman added that Coney Island Road, from Duck’s Puddle Drive to the park, will be closed to most traffic between 6am and 7pm.

Only emergency vehicles, event officials and designated individuals will be allowed on the route during this time.

VIPs can park at Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club and general admission parking will be at Duck’s Puddle Park and Annex.

Traffic will be directed by police and event officials during the event, but motorists should use caution to avoid colliding with participants.

Police are permitted to partially or fully close other roads and authorise parking during the competition as the commissioner decides.

Questions can be directed to event representative Larry Symonds on 501-3168.
