Police have launched an investigation into a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on the Causeway yesterday and appealed for witnesses.

Teams from the Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched to the incident in St George’s at about 5.20pm.

A spokesman for the BPS said: “It was reported that the motorcycle rider, a 19-year-old male, was travelling in an easterly direction along the Causeway, when upon approaching the Bailey bridge, he lost control of the vehicle and fell on the roadway.

“He was attended to at the scene by BFRS staff before being transferred by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were described as non-life threatening.

“Traffic was restricted to one lane for approximately two hours while the collision scene was processed.

“We wish to thank the public for their patience and co-operation during this process.”

An investigation into the matter is under way and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Constable Amoy Johnson-Smith on 247-1680 or by e-mail at ajohnson-smith@bps.bm.
